These mask-like faces are line drawings printed on Japanese papers that are reminiscent of aging skin. They are cut out, slightly stuffed, and mounted on mat board for hanging on a wall. They make reference to the ancient uses of masks representing tribal elders, or spirit guides.
I hope that they also urge the viewer to look more carefully at faces that are lined and wrinkled. We can read wrinkles like maps of our lives. And we can revere the elders.
